Hydrating Strawberry Lemonade {Jamba Juice Copy Cat}

This hydrating frozen strawberry lemonade is the perfect post workout drink.

The hydration comes from the coconut water. I was so excited when I saw this drink on the Jamba Juice menu last summer (it’s a seasonal item).  I know I should like those healthy fruit smoothies, but I just don’t. So this lemonade was the perfect compromise for me. It has no dairy or soy and has a light and extremely refreshing flavor - bursting with fresh strawberries and lemon.

Here’s my next confession. I don’t like coconut water. It’s so weird because I love everything else coconut; so why not the water? The fact is coconut water is so good for you and truly nature’s sports drink. It’s loaded with electrolytes and not loaded with sugar. Another benefit is potassium. It has 61 mg per ounce. Gatorade has 3.75 mg per ounce. Crazy huh?

However adding it to this lemonade, you only get a hint of the flavor while reaping all of it’s benefits.  If you like coconut water – go for it straight.  If your not a big fan, follow the Jamba Juice plan and stick it in  a frosty glass of frozen strawberry lemonade. I sliced up my strawberries and then placed them in the freezer for a couple of hours.  By freezing the strawberries you don't need to add ice, leaving the flavor intense. As well, I used Evolution Organic Strawberry Lemonade. It's a little more expensive but so good and so healthy.
