Since we are now in the thick of winter and flu season, it’s a good idea to fortify ourselves with some serious vitamin C. This strawberry orange smoothie is packed with amazing flavor and vitamin C – it may get you through to spring without a sniffle.
Winter is peak time for citrus in California. The tangerine
tree in my backyard is dripping with sweet juicy fruit. We can hardly keep up
and I have found juicing them is an incredible way to use them up before they
start dropping off the tree.
Therefore when Driscoll’s berries asked me to make a healthy smoothie to start off the New Year, I knew it would have to include fresh tangerine or orange juice. Driscoll's strawberries are the perfect match for any citrus and turn this smoothie into a sweet ruby hued frosty drink. When I was shopping for my berries, I also spied some organic Driscoll's raspberries and knew I had to throw some in for flavor and their deep pink color. As well, I left this smoothie dairy free but you could add a touch of yogurt if you want a more substantial drink.
